Today I got the S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla 2019. I had preordered it from Ami Ami and paid for it on Friday, and this morning it arrived. I really like it. It's nicely detailed, has pretty good articulation  (especially the head/neck) and it comes with a breath effect accessory. There's a slight brownish wash on the chest and torso, but you can only notice in brighter light. The finger and toenails are slightly lighter but it's very subtle. In comparison to the NECA, it stands a little taller. The paint job is much darker, and while the lighter wash on the NECA is nice and shows off more details, that's about the only thing that NECA's figure has over it. The Monsterarts has better articulation, doesn't have those awful fish eyes, and it comes with effect part. I really love that this figure can look all the way up. I initially wasn't planning on getting the Endgame Black Widow by S.H. Figuarts since I already own the Infinity War version. But when I saw photos showing what a great looking figure it was, and especially after watching Endgame, I had to get it. This figure has great articulation and decent accessories. She comes with a long set of batons and a shorter one that can be placed in her back, 5 pairs of hands, 2 face plates, a pair of guns, a pair of guns in holsters that can be clipped to her sides, as well as a pair of empty gun holsters. She has a very wide range of movement in her shoulders and legs for very expressive poses. This figure is a lot fun to pose. Black Widow has become one of my favorite Avengers in the Marvel films, having proven to be an asset to the team. She made her debut in Iron Man 2 and was just ok. I got to watch the sequel to 2014's Godzilla on Thursday in an IMAX theatre. I've been looking forward to this film since it was announced about 5 years ago. Well.... It was a letdown. It felt like Legendary listened to the chief complaint about the 2014 film (not enough Godzilla / monster action) and they delivered in that sense. Unfortunately, they peppered the rest of the film with a very dumb script, ridiculous storyline, and a waste of mostly good actors. As for everyone who says they watch Godzilla films for the monsters and not the humans, that's fine.... if you're a 5 year old. Anyone who's a long time Godzilla fan can tell you that some of the best films had both great monster action AND a decent storyline. Even the really goofy films had a silly storyline that matched the fun kaiju antics. KOTM was inconsistent, trying to pass a serious tone that would then throw in bursts of humor, most of which was just moronic and annoying. **SPOILER...

As we come up 1 week until the new Godzilla: King of the Monsters film is released, I’ve been reflecting on my lifelong love for Godzilla. Since as long as I can remember I’ve always been into monsters and creepy stuff. I still have vaguely vivid memories of the first G film I watched (Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster) on TV.
