Tamashii Nations continues their tradition of rushing out a new generation Ultra that’s a bare bones release. This is the multi-type version of Ultraman Trigger, from the current series. I’ll admit that the new show is weak, but at least the figure was not pricey.
Ultraman Trigger comes with 5 pairs of hands (fists, 2 karate chop and 2 open) and an alternate color timer. No beams or other accessories. Just like they released the Alpha Edge version of Z with very little, I’m sure they’ll save the beams and accessories for future releases. Still, for the low price, the figure is of good quality. He’s nicely painted with his detailed chest, forearm and leg armor in gold, with red and purple stripes throughout the body. His forehead crystal is translucent blue, while his eyes are translucent clear with white underneath. He’s sculpted in PVC, like most of the rest of their line. This is the material they should’ve done Tiga in, instead of the soft plastic with easily peeling paint he came in.
His articulation is very good, sporting all the regular joints of most of the new Generation releases, with excellent butterfly joints on the shoulders that can bend far forward, and swivels at the elbows, allowing for maximum arm pose-ability. A good variety of action, fighting, sitting and running poses can be achieved.
Though he does not come with any beams, if you own Ultraman Z Original, then the beam with that figure can easily fit onto Trigger’s wrist. That’s one good thing about owning multiple Ultras from Figuarts; easily interchangeable effect pieces. I won’t be getting any other versions of Trigger that Tamashii Nations will most likely release down the line, so they can take their future over-priced Premium Web Exclusives that most assuredly will include a beam and shove them up their…..smile, smile! Haha!
S.H. Figuarts Ultraman Trigger multi-type is a surprisingly solid figure despite not coming with much. Considering how popular Ultraman Z was, they really should have given the Alpha Edge release this much attention, especially in terms of articulation. I’ve been forcing myself to keep watching the new show, but at least the figure is worthy.
