While shopping for soap at CVS Pharmacy, I noticed a display next to the self checkout stands that had a bunch of toy cars. Among them were several Batmobile vehicles. I picked up this one from the’89 Tim Burton movie, as it’s always been one of my favorite Batmobiles.
It appears to be made of diecast, and is about 5” in length. It’s highly detailed, with clear windshield, hydraulic parts on the side, and orange headlights at the front, with red taillights on the back. The ‘89 Batmobile had that sleek, sports car design with fins at the back, and this little car accurately captures its unique look.
The only moving parts are the wheels. It’s the kind that if you roll it back until the click stops, you can let it go and it will take off at high speed. That was a fun gimmick I remembered from the various toy cars I owned as a kid. I would have loved to have owned this, especially after seeing the movie when I was a teenager.
Jada Toys 1989 Batmobile was $6.99, so it was definitely a fun little purchase. It fits really well with my Mafex Hush Batman figure, even though it’s clearly way too small for him to fit into. Now if I could find a 1989 Batwing, that would be way cool.
