My Ultraman Kaiju Wishlist for S.H. Figuarts

When Tamashii Nations released a Golza figure in late January, it was the first Ultra kaiju they dropped in about a year. Everything else they’ve given us have been unreleased Ultras and special color Ultras. They showed prototypes of the Taro and Ace foes Tyrant and Hipporito, but those 2 have yet to be released. In the very large sea of Ultramen, they should give us more monsters. There are many that I would LOVE to have, but most of my choices are less popular ones, like Keronia (my absolute favorite Ultra kaiju), or others like Soundgilar and Garan from Ace, Crescent and Gymaira from 80, Darambia, Hydra, or Blizzard and Silver Bloome from Leo.

I tried to come up with a list of kaiju that are more well known or have made several appearances throughout the various series, as they may be more likely to sell. Here is my list of ten Ultra kaiju that I would love to see S.H. Figuarts give us.

10. Nova from Ultraman Leo

This goofy ghost thing is one of the Black Star saucer creatures that were sent to kill Leo. Nova eventually made a return in Mebius, and has been seen a few times since then. Tamashii Nations could make this figure with cloth covering a basic articulated body underneath, and articulated tentacles. For accessories, maybe a small saucer version of Nova, or his poison smoke held up by a stand. This kaiju could be a unique, fun figure to own if they did it right.

9. C.O.V. from Ultraman Gaia

This creature’s appearance is very unusual but also cool, with reddish gold color scheme, sickle-like claws, and blue crystals on his belly. He’d be quite colorful and would stand out on a shelf. For accessories they can include his Flash C.O.V. beam.

8. Doragory from Ultraman Ace

This strange, moth looking thing was memorable during his appearance on Ace, where he brutally ripped off the jaw of the monster Muruchi after accidentally bumping into him. Doragory has made a few more appearances since his infamous debut. And since there have been no kaiju released from Ace, he could be the first foe from that wacky series.

7. Velokron from Ultraman Ace

Ace’s first foe, this super Choju has since returned for various guest spots throughout the Ultra series. He shoots flames and various rockets from his fingers and body, which resembles a coral reef. Either of those attacks could be accessories, provided they gave him any. Even if they released the lone figure, he would still be a welcome addition to the Figuarts line.

6. Gazort from Ultraman Tiga

This funky, block headed shark is probably the second most popular foe from that series, having appeared twice during its run. He returned last year for an episode of Trigger, so his recent sighting would be fresh in the minds of fans.

5. Takkong from Return of Ultraman

This odd, aquatic ball on legs has increased in popularity with his recent guest spot on the hit show Ultraman Z. Since his body is solid, they’d only have to articulate his arms, legs, neck and mouth. His unique appearance would look well alongside Jack’s other weird monster Twin Tail.

4. Birdon from Ultraman Taro

This goofy thing resembles the Looney Tunes character Foghorn Leghorn, but don’t let that fool you. He proved a formidable foe for Taro, killing him, as well as Zoffy. Tamashii Nations could give him an extra head for flight poses, a stand to display him like that, and maybe even the flame attack he emits from his beak. Since Figuarts haven’t given us any winged kaiju, he could be their first.

3. Gubira from Ultraman

This giant fish resembles a Narwhal with a spinning drill on his face. It’s another kaiju with a recent increase in appearances and popularity, and they could give him an articulated drill that you can spin. He was one of my favorites from the original series; I think he would be a great release.

2. Neronga  from Ultraman

Another of the OG’s, this kaiju is one of many that share the same body with the Baragon suit. To capitalize on his recent appearance in Shin Ultraman, he could probably sell well. They could give him antennas that spin forward, for his attack.

1. Eleking from Ultraseven

Arguably one of the most popular Ultra kaiju, Tamashii Nations could make a killing selling him, especially for the fans who’ve missed out on the older Ultra Act version. Many fans have asked for Eleking, so c’mon Figuarts, release him already!

Help Me… I’m Possessed (1974) / #Missingcouple (2024)

I've watched some weird, obscure horror movies throughout my life. I can now add this lurid 1974 schlockfest to that growing list. In a castle in the desert, Dr. Arthur Blackwood runs a sanitarium filled with mentally disturbed patients (as well as staff). He claims to be working on finding a way to cure people of any violent tendencies they have, and brags about his younger sister, innocent, child-like Melanie, as evidence that his treatment works. When she was a child, their parents had to keep her locked up and chained in the basement, to control her violent fits. Now that he's cured her, Arthur has his wife Diane come to the castle to meet Melanie, so that they can be one big, happy family. Diane begins to grow suspicious that something is amiss after a Sheriff shows up investigating the murder of 2 local teens, and sets about on her own investigation, hoping to uncover the sinister secrets that she feels her husband is hiding. Help Me... I'm Possessed is an outrageous,...

Titanic Creations Yongary 1967

This figure was released in late December, and I got it about 2 days before the New Year, so I'm counting it as a 2025 release. It is the Titanic Creations version of the Korean kaiju Yongary, Monster From The Deep. The film was released in 1967 as a Godzilla ripoff, with several ideas copied from the Gamera series, such as his tusks, his ability to fire a stream of flames from his mouth, and even firing a laser beam from his horn, similar to the slicing one used by Gyaos. The film is pretty goofy, but Yongary, like most of those Asian monsters, was pretty cool (to me, at least), so I was psyched that someone finally made a figure of this lesser known kaiju. When Titanic Creations put it up for pre-order, they announced a series of tiers, where they would add accessories when a certain number of orders were met. Enough fans ordered him, so that Yongary ended up with a shit ton of stuff, making him absolutely worth the price. In addition to the kaiju, you get a flame breath effect, ...

RicSan Custom Toys Kyōrū Kaiju (Titanosaurus)

My latest kaiju figure purchase is the Titanosaurus made by Ricsan Custom Toys. I own and love the Varan & Gabara, so of course I had to preorder this one when it was available. He was delivered earlier this week. This kaiju hails from the last Godzilla film of the Showa era, 1975's Terror of Mechagodzilla. The Black Hole aliens are back, rebuilding their robot in another effort to take over the planet. They enlist the help of an ostracized Earth scientist named Mafune and his daughter Katsura, who are able to control an aquatic dinosaur named Titanosaurus. They plan to use both kaiju and mecha to attack Japan. Titano was a cool monster, with his tail that opened into a fish fin, and he would use it to create whirlpools in the sea, and high winds on land. I'm hoping that S.H. Monsterarts makes one for the 50th anniversary of the film, but when I saw this Ricsan Custom version, I couldn't pass it up. Titanosaurus (called the Kyōrū Kaiju), comes in a white box, with its n...
