 The end of the year is approaching, so that means it’s time to list off my 10 favorite figures of the year. I had a lot of great ones to choose from, but ultimately, these are the ones that made the cut. 10. S.H. Figuarts Pac-Man This one took me by surprise. Who’d have thought that a ball with arms and legs could be so much fun, especially in articulated form? But Tamashii Nations pulled it off, making an extremely engaging figure that could achieve many expressive poses. This articulated Pac-Man ate up a lot of his competitors to get the number 10 slot. 9. S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla Ultima  This is another one that surprised me, in that one of the issues that sometimes plague the MonsterArts line, the tendency of joints to easily pop off, especially on their larger figures, was not present here. His 18” tail could twist and turn in many directions and remain intact. The sculpt is fantastic, the paint is good, and he looks great, easily standing out among a sea of similar Godzillas. H

 My last late November pre-order arrived, just before the holidays. It is none other than Godzilla Ultima from the anime Godzilla Singular Point. I had been looking forward to watching it, and when it finally dropped, found myself straining to sit through it. I found it better than the Godzilla Earth trilogy, but not by much. The Godzilla design, however, looked very nice, and the promo photos that Tamashii Nations put out looked promising, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Now that I have him in hand, he's as great as the pics promised. The figure is large, though most of his bulk is in his thick thunder thighs. He's a much more interesting design than what we got with Godzilla Earth, with his mouth full of teeth, including two very large ones protruding from the upper lip, and his dorsal spines that are shaped like maple leaves, cream colored with red veins stretching through them. What makes this guy stand out, though, is that massive tail that's about 18" lon
