NECA Friday the 13th Part 2 Jason

Today I picked up Friday the 13 th part 2 Jason from my local shop (Zonkey Toys). I went there to get the NECA G62 and got this Jason as well.   I’m a big fan of the first 3 films in the Friday the 13 th series. While I love hockey mask Jason, I also really loved his look from the 2 nd film, with the sack around his head. It just looks very creepy.     This Jason comes with an unmasked head, a knife, a curved machete, a spear, a pitchfork, a pick axe, his mother’s decapitated, shriveled head, and a campfire with flame.       This one doesn’t come with any alternate hands, though the hands he does have hold his weapons quite well, so that’s always good.     It sports standard NECA joints and articulation. Not double jointed but decent enough. He can move his head, shoulders, elbows, hands, waist, thighs, knees and slight ankle rocker. There were no overly loose joints on mine, so that’s great.       The paint applications a

NECA Godzilla 1962

Today I found the NECA Godzilla 62 at my local shop called Zonkey Toys. I’ve been eagerly awaiting this as I was curious how good NECA’s King Goji would turn out.   The first thing to note is that NECA are now allowed to put out more colorful boxes for their Godzilla figures. The box art is really nice, recreating the King Kong vs. Godzilla poster, with an open window that displays the kaiju, as well as an insert inside that can be removed that has the backdrop of Mount Fuji.   The figure is also slightly bigger than the other NECA Godzillas, and also bigger than the SHMA King Goji. As for articulation, it’s standard NECA joints. The one immediate thing to note is that the tail is in several sections, so it has more articulation, unlike the usual NECA tails that sport a bendy wire. The tail is also longer and thicker than other NECA G’s. There does seem to be an issue with some joints being more stiff than others, so you may want to be careful when p

S.H. Figuarts Ultraman Rosso Wind & Blu Ground.

My latest purchase was S.H. Figuarts Ultraman Rosso Wind & Blu Ground. They're just one of various forms that these 2 can transform into. Their original color scheme is red (Rosso) and blue (Blu).  These figures are really nice. Very nicely detailed and painted. The articulation is pretty good as well. Joints are a little stiff but you can get them in some good, expressive poses. As far as accessories, they each come with a total of 5 pairs of hands, a color timer and their sword weapons that can be pegged together to form one. Rosso Wind's has redish highlights and Blu Ground has bluish.  I own the Ultra Action versions of their original forms. Tamasshii Nations has their original forms available, as well as reversed versions of the Wind & Ground forms. Tamasshii Nations is also planning on releasing the Ruebe variant, which is the Ultra they become when they combine their forms. I own the Ultra Action version of

Funko Godzilla Mystery Mini Set

I recently picked up this cute set of Mystery Mini Godzilla figures from Funko. It comes with 3, a greenish one, an orange one, and the mystery one turned out to be the burning Godzilla color.     I got them at a local shop called Tokyo Japanese Lifestyle. They have many cool stuff, including several S.H. Figuarts Dragonball characters. They also carried the S.H. MonsterArts frozen Shin Godzilla (2) and the Godzilla Earth from the anime that comes with a little figure and a ship.   They come packaged in a long box with a window that let’s you see the green and orange variant, with the mystery figure covered. There are only 2 mystery variants, the burning version or the grey version.     These Funko figures are very simple and nice. They’re well painted and nicely detailed. Definitely more in the super-deformed style. They’re about 3” tall. They don’t have any articulation and the sculpt on all 3 is the same, the only difference is the co

Evolution Toy HAF Spectreman

Today I received Evolution Toy HAF Spectreman figure. Spectreman hails from the 1971 Japanese series about a cyborg that defends the planet against mutated monsters created by the evil space ape Dr. Gori to destroy humanity and claim the Earth for himself. Spectreman is one of my favorite tokusatsu series. I vividly remember watching it on TV as a kid. Of course I watched the dubbed version produced by Mel Welles, with that oh so groovy Spectreman theme song.   Even though the show appeared cheaply produced (more so than the Ultra series), I still love it and the characters. Dr. Gori was a great, memorable villain, always reciting his speeches in an over-the-top fashion (in the English dub anyway). And the kaiju were all really weird, ranging from a giant cockroach, to a mole monster with a fish head on its ass, to a giant walking brain and a thing with big bug eyes that had a drill on one elbow and a blade on the other.     Evolution Toy did a great j
