Happy Birthday Gamera!

55 years ago today, Gamera appeared on the screen to cash in on the Japanese kaiju craze. Unlike other kaiju films (that were not Godzilla), Gamera managed to stick around long enough for several sequels, including the fantastic trilogy from the 90's.  Here is a Happy Birthday stop motion to celebrate his 55 years.

Marvel Legends Kang The Conquerer

From the BAF Joe Fix-It Wave, here is Kang. This is the only other figure from this set that interested me (the other being Jocasta, which I got and reviewed earlier). Kang is a time traveling villain from the 31st century who battled against The Fantastic 4 and The Avengers. He's considered an old school villain, who made his debut in the 60's. Kang is dressed in a green tunic, with purple belt, harness, boots and gloves. His helmeted head is blue with white pupils and light blue lines running down the sides. I like his face a lot, the expression has a menacing quality, with his blank eyes. I also like his 2-tone outfit, it's simple but also stands out. Kang comes with 2 pairs of hands (fists and grasping), an extra gun holding hand, a gun and one leg for the Joe Fix-It figure. The gun is nicely detailed, though it's only one color, no shading. It's a bit of a challenge to get the gun into his trigger hand. The best way to do it is to put the hand on the gun, then

S.H. Figuarts Sailor Jupiter Animation Color Edition

Out of the current new releases of animation color edition Sailor Moon characters, the other one I picked up is Miss Makoto Kino aka Sailor Jupiter. Let's check her out. The figure comes in a light green box with open window and portrait. As for accessories, she comes with 6 pairs of hands (fists, relaxed, open, clawing, peace sign and one that is pointing, while it's pair has curved fingers). She also comes with alternate hair bangs with antenna up, and 4 face plates (close mouth smiling, open mouth smiling, mad and scowling face), and a stand with heart-shaped base that bears her name. Like with Mercury, I like that they're all different expressions instead of variations of the same one. She sports the same articulation as Sailor Mercury (with the addition of a pony tail that's on a ball joint that can be moved around and up). However, because she's wearing boots with a thinner heel, there is more of a challenge to get her to stand on her own. As seen in the photo
