NECA Michael Myers Halloween 2018

My latest NECA horror figure was Michael Myers from the 2018 Halloween movie. The film was pretty decent, better than some of the sequels. NECA did a good job with this Michael Myers.     As for accessories, he comes with an alternate head, a decapitated head from one of his victims in the movie, a knife, a hammer and a long hook, a Judith Myers gravestone, a jack-o-lantern that lights up, and several interchangeable hands, including one with 2 fingers cut off.     The paint and details are very nice, from the creases on his blue jumpsuit, to the creases with stains on his 2 masks. One mask seems to be slightly more worn and scruffy than the other, that’s the one I prefer out of the 2.   As for his gripping hands, they’re able to hold the hammer, knife and hook quite well, so that’s nice. There are some figures that aren’t able to hold certain accessories too firmly, so the nice grip is appreciated here. The articulation is standard f

Bandai Ultimate Structure Set V3

This is the Bandai Ultimate Structure Set Volume 3. It consists of 7 individual structure sets, some needing some mild assembly. The sets are: Street bridge with street lights. You can peg the lights into 2 holes on each side, or they come with tiny round stands that you can peg the light into as well. While this one is nice, since it’s so small, you’d have to buy a few sets of these to make a longer bridge, otherwise you only get a piece of a bridge. I actually ordered another single one, but now that I see how small they are, I may order 2 or 3 more just to make a longer bridge.   Tall building with windows. This is one that you can open and place a small light inside to illuminate it since the windows are translucent.     Warehouse with 2 mini refrigerator car pieces (at least I think that’s what they’re called). This one also has the translucent windows and can be opened to illuminate from within.     Crane with little forklift. The crane is 3

S.H. Figuarts Gudon

My latest arrival is S.H. Figuarts Gudon. He’s a kaiju from the Return of Ultraman series, appearing in episodes 5 and 6, where he was pitted against the monster Twin Tail. Gudon has since appeared in various Ultra shows, such as Ultraman Mebius, Ultra Galaxy, etc. Figuarts has once again done a great job with the sculpt, capturing all the details from his spikey body to his eyes and tentacle whip arms. The paint applications are also great, sporting a nice tan color with darker highlights, as well as blacks for tentacles and horns and red for mouth and eyes. As for the articulation, that’s where this release is a bit inconsistent. The photo with arrows shows all the articulated points, and he also has several joints along his tail as well. His neck joints, tail joints and torso have great range of motion. His mouth can open very wide, but due to the lower jaw being on a ball joint and the shape of the mouth, when closing it fully, make sure you alight the

S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla 1962

A figure I’ve been waiting for for a while now, S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla 1962 has finally arrived. I thought that NECA would be the first to get this figure out, but Monsterarts beat them to it. This figure is very nice. Some early posts expressed concern over the eyes and paint job. Some photos I saw seemed to show misaligned eyes, as well as grey/black paint marks on the teeth. Luckily the figure I got turned out good. One thing to note is that the eyes have a glossy coating over them, so in different light and/or angles, they can look off. King Goji sports a greyish color, with some reddish/brown highlights, specifically on the chest and torso. The irises of his eyes are a yellow so they stand out in the light. He also has some pink along the gum lines and reddish/pink inside the mouth and tongue.   His articulation is pretty good. The King Goji suit is quite bulky so there will be some limits. The head can look up, down, a little side to side. The upp

Godzilla Planet Eater review

Today the final installment of the Godzilla anime premiered on Netflix. Titled Godzilla: Planet Eater, it finishes the trilogy that began with Planet of the Monsters.   If I were to use a sentence to describe it, it would be metaphysical mumbo jumbo anticlimactic nonsense. I actually started laughing during the “big climax” as I couldn’t believe that this was what they came up with to conclude the series. It begins where City on the Edge of Battle ended, with the plan to destroy Godzilla by fusing with the tech in Mechagodzilla City failing, causing the death of Yuko. Haruo is mourning her loss and blames himself. Meanwhile, Metphies tells him he’s the chosen one and that their God will defeat Godzilla.   SPOILERS: Metphies turns out to be a batshit crazy religious fanatic who is sacrificing all who believe to be eaten by the energy of Ghidorah, their God. During their summoning ceremony, Ghidorah kills the worshippers and destroys the ship of survivors that’s in

Aquaman movie

I finally got around to seeing Aquaman. I had been looking forward to it up until about the time I saw the first trailer. After that my excitement died down as I felt it looked rather cheesy. A few individuals also informed me that they had seen it and that it was just ok. But then the weeks passed and it continued to be the #1 movie at the box office so I figured I might as well check it out, plus, I had a few hours to kill last Monday. My verdict? It’s just ok. There were things that I did enjoy, and other things that I felt were just so-so. There were several silly, cheesy moments that killed the momentum at times. Here’s some other observations.   Jason Momoa: He was decent, thought I found all the one liners and jokes became distracting and got old quite fast. Momoa can come off as intense and menacing, but the frequent humor in the script continued to ruin that and made it difficult to take him seriously. Amber Heard: She’s very attractive and a decent actress,
