While picking up some milk at Walgreens today, I came across this Marvel Legends Spiderman. I had seen it before in reviews, I liked the armor suit, so I bought it. It's a cool, different look for Spiderman, and the figure is pretty nice.
The figure only comes with a soft plastic web accessory that can fit over a figure's face, and the leg for the build a figure Demogoblin. It would've been nice if it came with some extra hands at least, to give him more expression. He only comes with a left web shooting and right fist. Some more action style and right web shooting hands would've benefitted the figure a lot. Besides the lack of hands, the figure is otherwise very nice.
His articulation is nice. You're able to get him into many fun action poses and he can balance well on one foot. He has a ball joint head, thighs, shoulders, double jointed knees and elbows, upper thigh and arm hinge, ankle pivot and rotation, hinged wrists, waist cut and upper torso hinge that can crunch far forward and some backward. The arms can move out to the sides but are hindered by his shoulder pads. While the ab crunch is pretty good, a ball jointed upper torso might have benefitted him so he could crunch his waist more at the sides, to really take advantage of those Spidey moves. But as it stands, what he can do is pretty good. I imagine most collectors would have him on a stand anyway, and he's very good for those type of poses.
I really love the soft plastic webbing accessory that fits nicely on most action figures' heads. It's a fun extra that, paired with his web shooter hand, can make him appear to have webbed an enemy's face. That was a cool idea, as opposed to the standard shooting webs that most Spiderman figures come with. The paint and details on his suit are very nice. The blue on his shoulder pads and arms, part of his belt, and especially his blue eyes, are quite arresting, and give his standard black and red color some extra pop. I like the expression on the eyes a lot, and the big spider symbol on his chest, that sports a gloss coating amid the matte black of the rest of his body is also a highlight. Marvel Legends did a good job with the sculpt of this figure.
While this figure could be considered a "bare bones" release, the unusual look of the MK III armor might be enough to reel in some collectors, just to have this suit represented in their collection. And being a Marvel Legends, it won't cost you a lot, either. Despite the lack of hands, I'm happy with my Spider Armor Spiderman. He's different enough to stand out.
