The next April pre-order to arrive is Ultraman Ribut, the Malaysian Ultra warrior. He was a joint collaboration between the creators of Upin and Ipin and Tsuburaya Productions. His first appearance in the Ultraverse was in Ultra Galaxy Fight: Next Generation Heroes. He recently appeared in Ultraman Trigger, and Tamashii Nations have decided to give us a figure of this warrior. They loaded him with a good amount of accessories and quality articulation. Let’s dive in.
Included are alternate color timer, Spreader Rod, Galaxium Blaster effect, Ribut Blocker, and extra forearm for attaching the Ribut Blocker, and 6 pairs of hands (fists, holding, relaxed, open, and two pairs of karate chop hands). He resembles some of the Ultramen of the Showa era, such as Jack, Zoffy and original, with his silver and red color scheme. He also sports blue crystal wrist guard on his left forearm, and smaller blue crystals on his right arm and outer legs, with dark gray on his wrists and ankles. He looks great, Tamashii Nations once again doing a commendable job with sculpt and paint.
His articulation is the usual high quality that they’ve given most of their new generation Ultras, including butterfly shoulder joints and extra elbow rotation. Ribut is a lot of fun to pose, being able to crouch, kick, kneel, bend, stretch and stand with little effort. He’s one of Figuarts’ more expressive figures, so you’ll have a variety of options for posing and displaying him.
His Galaxium Blaster effect fits well onto Trigger’s wrist, giving that Ultra another beam he can be posed with, that is until August, when they’ll release a figure of Carmeara, which includes his Zeperion Beam as one of her accessories. As for Ultraman Ribut, he’s fantastic and one of Tamashii Nations better efforts. I wish that all their figures would get this level of high QC and care. All we as collectors can do is celebrate the wins, and S.H. Figuarts Ultraman Ribut is a home run.
