The other thing that came last week was the option parts set for the S.H. Figuarts Earth Garon (and Ultraman Blazar, which I don’t own). It includes several add on parts for Earth Garon, and a few effect parts for Blazar. The set allows you to have all of the robot’s arsenal of weapons.
Included are the special flight support unit (a triangle shaped wing attachment), which helped to improve his aerial combat performance, a special combat unit (back attachment armed with two heavy weapons fixed above the shoulders), the ability to combine both these units so he can have his ultimate upgrade, a charged particle cannon beam that he fires from his mouth, a stand and base for the beam, and an extra pair of dark grey eyes. For Blazar, there is his Spiral Burrade weapon, which is a miniature black hole he forms in his hand, out of which he pulls out an energy spear that he throws at enemies to destroy them. And finally, a pair of hands with a peg in the palm where the black hole attaches to. Despite not owning Blazar, the extra hands fit into the wrist peg of my Arc figure, and the energy spear can easily fit into Arc’s holding hand.
Earth Garon’s back attachments are mostly easy to swap out. He has a panel on his back that you remove, switch it for one with pegs, and you clip the wing or cannon units into the holes. For the cannon unit, you’re able to move them up and forward, so he can blast his enemies. To combine both the back units is a little trickier. You have to remove a small coil that attaches to the cannon on the right side, then remove a small back panel that requires a thin knife or piece of plastic to get under and pull off, as it doesn’t have anything to grasp onto in order to get a good grip on it. Once you remove that part, you attach another piece of plastic that you can then attach the wings to. For the beam, it’s painted a light blue, with a swirling design. The eyes can be swapped out just like the others.
This set is pretty cool and came with a bit more things than I expected (such as the beam and extra pair of eyes). Earth Garon looks great with those extra attachments, and the option parts for Blazar work with other Ultra figures as well, so that’s nice. Now my mecha can be ready for battle with all his extra weapons. If you own the S.H. Figuarts Earth Garon, I’d say this set is worth getting, as it’s always fun to have attachments to add to your figures, giving you a variety of display options.
