Top 10 Favorite kaiju action figures of 2025

As the year comes to an end, it’s time to countdown my top 10 favorite kaiju action figures of the year. 2025 had a lot of really great stuff, with good quality, accessories and engineering. As a Godzilla, Ultraman and kaiju fan, this year had some wonderful releases.

Before the official countdown, here are the honorable mentions. Ricsan Custom Toys put out more good stuff in 2025. Of the ones I purchased, Bagan, The Giant Behemoth & Gemstone Godzilla were my personal favorites. Rounding out the runner ups, Ultraman Cosmos from S.H. Figuarts was a great figure, with excellent articulation and accessories.

And now, the countdown. Number 10: S.H. Figuarts King of Mons
This release was really fantastic. It was large and imposing, had some great paint and sculpt work, and could move pretty well.

Number 9: S.H. Figuarts Alien Hipporito
One of the big baddies from the Ultraman Ace series received a quality release from Bandai. He came with an extra hand to hold a small Ace, and an extra curved nose piece. He looked accurate to his screen counterpart and his engineering was better than I anticipated.

Number 8: Titanic Creations Yongary
This figure dropped at the very end of last year, so I’m counting him as a 2025 release. I’ve always loved this goofy Korean monster, and was hella psyched when Titanic Creations was able to get the license to produce this beast. In addition to being a great looking figure, they packed a shit ton of extras with it, including vehicles, a bridge, a castle, oil tanks, and his flame breath and nasal laser.

Number 7: S. H. Figuarts Mother of Ultra
Having dropped Father of Ultra last year, I knew that Mother wouldn't be far behind. She dropped this last summer, with multiple hands and her signature pink healing beam. Her release was long overdue, and her figure did not disappoint. She looks great, capturing all her details in all of its curvaceous glory.

Number 6: Evolution Toy HAF Zone Fighter version 2
This figure turned out great, with good articulation and just the right amount of accessories. I recall the very first release had really loose joints, with certain parts easily falling off. This upgrade is more solid, plus, the hands are able to fit onto the pegs with more ease. In their past figures, certain hands would be too tight, resulting in the wrist pegs snapping. Hopefully their future releases will continue to be as solid as this Zone Fighter.

Number 5: S.H. MonsterArts King Ghidorah 1972
It took Bandai several years before finally releasing a Showa era version of King Ghidorah, but it was worth the wait, as this figure turned out fantastic, with a great sculpt and impressive articulation. This is one of their most impressive releases.

Number 4: Hiya Toys King Ghidorah 1991
This was the first figure I ever purchased from this company, and what a great place to start. Their King Ghidorah is massive, highly detailed, and the articulation is great. Those bendy wire wings really help to give this imposing kaiju even more personality, as they could bend in many different directions without the plastic breaking. Using this instead of hard plastic really helped to make this figure that much more fun to pose.

Number 3: S.H. MonsterArts Anguirus 1972
The other Bandai release from the film Godzilla vs. Gigan was Godzilla's faithful sidekick. The sculpt and paint are great, and Bandai found a way to give him great engineering to really help him achieve all sorts of fun poses. It was about time that Anguirus finally got a figure in the SHMA line, and what a winner it turned out to be.

Number 2: S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 2000
Of all the great figures that Bandai gave us in their SHMA line, Godzilla 2000 was by far the absolute best. Sporting a lot of new,  creative engineering, this Godzilla can move better than any of their other G figures. The tail can curl tightly, the shoulders have butterfly joints, the torso is divided into a few pieces that allow a lot of range for twisting and turning, and they finally gave us a sculpt that is accurate to the suit. This is the Godzilla 2000 that fans have been asking for, and it ended up surpassing everyone's expectations.

Number 1: Hiya Toys Godzilla 1991 Hokkaido Landing Version
Had it not been for this release, SHMA's G2K would've easily taken the Number 1 slot. But for me, Hiya's 91 Goji simply hit harder. The Heisei era suits, especially 89 and 91, have become the definitive Godzilla design when people think of the monster. That look has gone on to become classic and iconic, and Hiya knocked it out of the park. Not only did they give him an accurate sculpt (much better than any of SHMA's 90’s releases, and those are pretty damn good), but Hiya's articulation is off the charts! For being based on a stiff suit, this figure's joints can twist, bend and move in all sorts of directions. Not only can he achieve a variety of fun, creative poses, but he looks just as great in a standard stance. While some complained about the details of the sculpt being soft, that didn't really bother me. I was also impressed by how quickly Hiya listened to customer feedback and produced a new head in less than a month since many didn't care for the initial one with the big, puppy dog eyes. The figure was also much cheaper than the SHMA, so you have to give them props for that. Of all the kaiju toys I've purchased this year, THIS is the one I find myself reaching for the most. It is my absolute favorite of 2025!

Happy New Year, happy collecting! Looking forward to what 2026 has in store.

Help Me… I’m Possessed (1974) / #Missingcouple (2024)

I've watched some weird, obscure horror movies throughout my life. I can now add this lurid 1974 schlockfest to that growing list. In a castle in the desert, Dr. Arthur Blackwood runs a sanitarium filled with mentally disturbed patients (as well as staff). He claims to be working on finding a way to cure people of any violent tendencies they have, and brags about his younger sister, innocent, child-like Melanie, as evidence that his treatment works. When she was a child, their parents had to keep her locked up and chained in the basement, to control her violent fits. Now that he's cured her, Arthur has his wife Diane come to the castle to meet Melanie, so that they can be one big, happy family. Diane begins to grow suspicious that something is amiss after a Sheriff shows up investigating the murder of 2 local teens, and sets about on her own investigation, hoping to uncover the sinister secrets that she feels her husband is hiding. Help Me... I'm Possessed is an outrageous,...

Titanic Creations Yongary 1967

This figure was released in late December, and I got it about 2 days before the New Year, so I'm counting it as a 2025 release. It is the Titanic Creations version of the Korean kaiju Yongary, Monster From The Deep. The film was released in 1967 as a Godzilla ripoff, with several ideas copied from the Gamera series, such as his tusks, his ability to fire a stream of flames from his mouth, and even firing a laser beam from his horn, similar to the slicing one used by Gyaos. The film is pretty goofy, but Yongary, like most of those Asian monsters, was pretty cool (to me, at least), so I was psyched that someone finally made a figure of this lesser known kaiju. When Titanic Creations put it up for pre-order, they announced a series of tiers, where they would add accessories when a certain number of orders were met. Enough fans ordered him, so that Yongary ended up with a shit ton of stuff, making him absolutely worth the price. In addition to the kaiju, you get a flame breath effect, ...

RicSan Custom Toys Kyōrū Kaiju (Titanosaurus)

My latest kaiju figure purchase is the Titanosaurus made by Ricsan Custom Toys. I own and love the Varan & Gabara, so of course I had to preorder this one when it was available. He was delivered earlier this week. This kaiju hails from the last Godzilla film of the Showa era, 1975's Terror of Mechagodzilla. The Black Hole aliens are back, rebuilding their robot in another effort to take over the planet. They enlist the help of an ostracized Earth scientist named Mafune and his daughter Katsura, who are able to control an aquatic dinosaur named Titanosaurus. They plan to use both kaiju and mecha to attack Japan. Titano was a cool monster, with his tail that opened into a fish fin, and he would use it to create whirlpools in the sea, and high winds on land. I'm hoping that S.H. Monsterarts makes one for the 50th anniversary of the film, but when I saw this Ricsan Custom version, I couldn't pass it up. Titanosaurus (called the Kyōrū Kaiju), comes in a white box, with its n...
