PLM Dioramansion 150: Town Street Figure Diorama


I was browsing on Amazon some time ago and came across these dioramas. Each one is a 3-piece set, with each piece being 6" x 6". I figure I could use it as background for figure photos. They work great for smaller figures like Nenderoid, and work OK for most 1:12 figures, though you will have to shoot them at certain angles and/or sitting down, as their heads can tower over the top edge, depending on how tall the figure is.







They offer various ones with different painted backdrops. The one I got was a coffee shop and street view. I have a small 1:12 table and stools that work pretty well with the diorama, as well as small coffee cup and food accessories. The pieces are a base with 2 painted backdrop walls that you join together with small, clear clips that are included. I'll be honest, it took me a while to figure out how to put this damn diorama together. The instructions are in Japanese and simply show sliding the clips into cut out ridges, but trying to get them to snap in securely was not easy. I had to go searching on YouTube for directions, and one commenter stated a simple way to do it that worked well.




You simply lay one end flat on a surface with the small clips in place, then, holding the other end on top of it, you slide them into place until they click (see video above). This works well for putting both the backdrops together and placing them onto the base. 







They make a good, fun backdrop for some of my figures. Having them sit, kneel and shooting them at closer angles works best. I had fun setting up a photo shoot for a day at the coffee shop for my various characters. Smaller S.H. Figuarts (6" or under), Figma, Revoltech and those that are about 4" seem to work the best. 








These diorama sets are fun and since they offer various backdrops, you can purchase a few to make your figure photographs pop. At about $18 - $20, they're decently priced as well. I may get me a few more of these to give my figures more colorful backgrounds.

    Hi. Is it possible to grab the YouTube link on how to put these together. I'm having trouble with mine and I have already broken one of the pieces and some have gone flying when trying to snap them in place. Great photography. :-)

RicSan Custom Toys Kyōrū Kaiju (Titanosaurus)

My latest kaiju figure purchase is the Titanosaurus made by Ricsan Custom Toys. I own and love the Varan & Gabara, so of course I had to preorder this one when it was available. He was delivered earlier this week. This kaiju hails from the last Godzilla film of the Showa era, 1975's Terror of Mechagodzilla. The Black Hole aliens are back, rebuilding their robot in another effort to take over the planet. They enlist the help of an ostracized Earth scientist named Mafune and his daughter Katsura, who are able to control an aquatic dinosaur named Titanosaurus. They plan to use both kaiju and mecha to attack Japan. Titano was a cool monster, with his tail that opened into a fish fin, and he would use it to create whirlpools in the sea, and high winds on land. I'm hoping that S.H. S.H. MonsterArts Anguirus 1972

One of my most anticipated figure releases of 2025 was finally delivered this last week. Godzilla's trusty sidekick, S. H. MonsterArts Anguirus (based on the 1972 suit). From the early video and photo reviews I had seen, he looked to have turned out a great figure. Now that I have him in hand, he absolutely is! This Ankylosaurus is based on the suit that was introduced in 1968's Destroy All Monsters, and made subsequent appearances in Godzilla vs. Gigan (72), Godzilla vs. Megalon (73), and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (74). Anguirus was the 2nd Toho monster to ever appear on screen, dueling with the big G in 1955's Godzilla Raids Again. For the later films, he became Godzilla's buddy, helping him out in his various battles. I'm a bit surprised that it took Bandai this long to release Anguirus in the MonsterArts line, as he's one of the more popular kaiju, but better late than never.
