Temu Buildings & Evemodel Houses

Within the last few weeks, I purchased some new buildings for my kaiju and Ultra action figures. One set I got from Temu, the other from ebay.

I kept seeing ads for stuff from Temu pop up everywhere, so I downloaded the app and decided to shop around for some building sets. I saw various different ones that were quite colorful and looked cool. After a while, I settled for a parking garage, a bank and a white building. All three came unassembled, so you had to put them together. Despite not coming with any real instructions, it was fairly easy to figure out how the pieces each clipped together.

The first one I put together was the parking garage, which was fairly easy. The next one I attempted was the parking garage, which was also easy, except that at one point, when I was trying to attach one wall to the base (they fit together by inserting the pegs of one piece into already made peg holes in the other). However, since it was a thin plastic, a piece of it snapped off quite easily. I guess you can't use too much force, though you also can't use too little or you won't get it to fit in properly. I was able to super glue that small piece back on, so now it fits nicely and you can't really tell that it was broken. Now the third building, the white one, was kind of a headache. Trying to get the pieces together was a chore as the pegs wouldn't often fit smoothly into the ready cut holes. Some of them went in easy, others, not so much. After trying for like 15 minutes, I got frustrated and used clippers to snap off certain pegs. I ended up just gluing certain pieces together just to get them to hold. Another annoying thing is the photos of the building on Temu's website showed it contained translucent blue sheets for the windows, which they didn't actually come with. While they do look nice, suffice to say that I won't be buying any more of these buildings. I ended up uninstalling the app. They were cheap, so I guess you do get what you pay for. I think I'll stick with more solid products like Eyepop Designs.

Now, let's move on to those little houses.

I purchased them off ebay, and it came with a set of three: red and white, yellow and white, and black and grey. I wasn't sure if I would have to assemble them or not, as the description didn't specify, but I bit the bullet and clicked purchase anyway. They were delivered in less than two weeks.

To my surprise, all three came already assembled, each individually wrapped in plastic. The only real issue was the yellow house had a small line of paint next to a window (see photo above), but I was able to easily rub it off with an alcohol pad. The chimney on the red house had fallen off in the package, probably during transport, but I was able to glue it back on. Other than that, all 3 are solid, nicely detailed and painted. I now have some small houses my kaiju and Ultra figures can attack if they so choose to. Invasion in suburbia!

While browsing online, I came across some photos of the new Megaguirus from S.H. MonsterArts. So far, it's looking really good. I can't wait to have this much beloved kaiju in my collection!

And now, here are some random photos that I've taken over the last few weeks or so.

That's all for now. Sayonara!

Help Me… I’m Possessed (1974) / #Missingcouple (2024)

I've watched some weird, obscure horror movies throughout my life. I can now add this lurid 1974 schlockfest to that growing list. In a castle in the desert, Dr. Arthur Blackwood runs a sanitarium filled with mentally disturbed patients (as well as staff). He claims to be working on finding a way to cure people of any violent tendencies they have, and brags about his younger sister, innocent, child-like Melanie, as evidence that his treatment works. When she was a child, their parents had to keep her locked up and chained in the basement, to control her violent fits. Now that he's cured her, Arthur has his wife Diane come to the castle to meet Melanie, so that they can be one big, happy family. Diane begins to grow suspicious that something is amiss after a Sheriff shows up investigating the murder of 2 local teens, and sets about on her own investigation, hoping to uncover the sinister secrets that she feels her husband is hiding. Help Me... I'm Possessed is an outrageous,...

S.H. MonsterArts Anguirus 1972

One of my most anticipated figure releases of 2025 was finally delivered this last week. Godzilla's trusty sidekick, S. H. MonsterArts Anguirus (based on the 1972 suit). From the early video and photo reviews I had seen, he looked to have turned out a great figure. Now that I have him in hand, he absolutely is! This Ankylosaurus is based on the suit that was introduced in 1968's Destroy All Monsters, and made subsequent appearances in Godzilla vs. Gigan (72), Godzilla vs. Megalon (73), and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (74). Anguirus was the 2nd Toho monster to ever appear on screen, dueling with the big G in 1955's Godzilla Raids Again. For the later films, he became Godzilla's buddy, helping him out in his various battles. I'm a bit surprised that it took Bandai this long to release Anguirus in the MonsterArts line, as he's one of the more popular kaiju, but better late than never. He's painted in a chocolate brown, with pale yellow on his various spikes, hor...

Ultraman Omega finale

Episode 25, the series finale of Ultraman Omega aired this Friday. From the very first episode I was hooked, and the series continued to maintain a high quality until the surprisingly emotional end. Sorato (Omega) regained all his memories, learning that he was one of many Space Gazers, who's job is to watch a planet and not interfere with any wars between the species (in Earth's case, humans and kaiju). A space Gazer's job is to observe, study and take notes, to learn from a planet's successes and mistakes, in the hopes of finding the right formula to achieve universal peace. Having returned to his previous role as simply a watcher, Kosei, Ayumu and Sayuki were forced to rely on themselves and their team to defeat the powerful kaiju Zomera. As he continued to watch the battle, Sorato/Omega found himself wrestling with the inactive role he was meant to do and his memories of the friendships he had forged with the others, as well as the examples of human kindness he had ...
