The latest figure I purchased from Ricsan Custom Toys is their Manda figure. They had previously put out a release of Manda 1968 (from Destroy All Monsters). This one is both the 68 version, as well as the Final Wars head. It has 2 separate heads that are attached via magnets. One with spikes, the other, not.
Manda was a sea serpent that first appeared in the 1963 Toho film Atragon. He wasn't seen on screen again until 1968's Destroy All Monsters, where he participated in an attack on Tokyo with Godzilla, Rodan & Mothra larva. The figure resembles a long snake with 2 pairs of legs. One head is smooth, while the other has 4 spikes on it. The figure is a sculpted in Resin, and is painted green, with a dull white for the teeth, nails and spikes, and yellow and red eyes. The figure is painted pretty well, especially those small eyes. They've definitely improved their painting skills over the years.
The accessories are the 2 heads, one for 68 Manda, the other for the Final Wars version. They also include a small plastic bag with some small 3D printed tanks, all unpainted. Ricsan Custom Toys usually include small tanks with their figures.
Using string articulation, Manda's body is multi-segmented, allowing it to twist, turn and bend. The 4 small pairs of legs can also bend and twist, and the mouths can open. Both heads have a magnet inserted into them, making it easy to switch them. One thing I noticed is that the legs, since they are very small, will need to be individually posed, as the weight of the figure can cause them bend in under the long body. Otherwise, you can get Manda into all sorts of snake-like, serpent poses.
Ricsan Custom Toys So Shingeki Serpent (Manda) is another nice figure from this 3rd party company, helping to fill the void for less popular kaiju that haven't received an official articulated release. Since I own quite a few of Ricsan's figures, I've gotten used to the string articulation, so I'm able to pose the figure without too much hassle. Between Ricsan and Titanic Creations, we collectors of lesser known kaiju are eating good these days. I'm looking forward to seeing what they give us in the future.
